Why are the best balls only 2.5 durability? Can we make more golf balls that are more durable?

Well WGT could make any ball with a higher durability, but the price would increase incrementally.

Also imagine playing a 5 durability ball, $12.00 a sleeve and dumping one in a hazard the moment you start playing with it.....I can hear the outrage! A CS disaster....

On the other hand, starter balls last forever, are free, and are worth every penny.

    Actually, they're a bit overpriced. ;-)

Because what makes the best is not durability. You're paying for increased distance or spin or decreased meter speed. As has already been noted, if the durability were also increased, they would cost even more than they do now.
