  Hi folks,

  I am at level 64, tour pro, play regularly, have a decent bag full of clubs and am wondering about joining a country club.

  Is there somewhere I can find out about how Country Clubs work and what are the benefits and commitments to joining.

  I have sent you an invite to the Green Bay Golf & CC.

  We are a new club with 28 members most of whom play regular. We are currently running a stroke play league, the PGA Tour & Handy-cap tournaments along with ad-hoc fun games as well. I am looking for more UK members so you are welcome to try us out.

  It is not compulsory to join in the league and tour etc but I would encourage members to do so as it really helps improve your game.

  Don't worry about the details about country clubs it will become clear if you join.

  Hmm - each CC works differently and demands different commitments...

  There's no fee involved with membership and you're free to leave whenever you want (button on the CC homepage).

  There are a few benefits:

  - extra internal tournaments with various conditions,

  - internal forum for more private conversation, perhaps in a different language,

  - co-members which may become friends and provide better commitment to multiplayer games (less quitting),

  - free putter & shot pals when the CC is at least Level 4,

  - inter-CC competitions (privately organised) if your CC is into it.

  One caveat from my POV:

  WGT offers to pay for CC passes (37 cr each) "to support your CC". I deem those superfluous, a waste of credits for the sole benefit of the company. If a CC demands you to buy CC passes, better wave them good-bye - they are poor fish of a clever marketing concept. My two Pfennig.

  I think most country clubs are simply a collection of people with more than half of them mostly inactive or no longer even playing the game. You get the basic membership benefits like a free shot and putter pal and some extra experience points but not much more.

  Most clubs offer club tournaments. But there may not be many participants if it is a club with mostly inactive members. One feature a CC offers is that you can create a tournament with ranked rounds from the easy tees. Participating there allows you to reach the next tier faster. This is particularly interesting to get faster from master to tour master and legend to tour legend. Some clubs allow every member to create tournaments others restrict this privilege to just a few people.

  Some clubs collect members from all over the world others specialize on a langue a geographic area or an common interst outside of playing online golf.

  The good clubs are something else. And each has its own personality. For example The Georgian wins all Clash Tournaments. If you want to be a member there you need to use a lot of credits and time for participating in clashes.

  My own club the GC Deutschland started as one of the first type with mostly inactive members. When the founder retired from WGT the new owner and some others put in a lot of effort to improve the club. We may now be the best german language country club.

  Now many of our members do most  their multiplayer rounds with other club members. We use a Whatsapp chat group to arrange most of those rounds.

  We have a club league using rules similar to the german soccer league. Each week 9 groups each play a two person multiplayer game and the results are used to update the leaderbord.

  And once a year some the members meet for a weekend to play real life golf.

  Pretty good description, Alosso, especially the last paragraph.

  I would add 2 more:

  - at Black Diamond GC, we provide information and, if asked, advice to help players improve their games.

  - in addition to regular intra-club tournaments, we also do at least 1 very easy tournament a week to help players lower their average.  That said, we also caution players against tiering up before they are ready for the next step. 

  Finally, some clubs demand near daily play to retain membership.  One should not join one of those unless one is willing to meet the commitment.
