2nd game from legend tees with your clubs, I chose Kiaweh back 9 because the tee differential between TM and legend is the greatest.

Results: I shot 2 over.  I could easily have been 2 under if I'd putted and chipped better.  I really wish I had rented a hybrid, as a lot of the approaches were around 210 yards and I had to choke up on my 3 wood.  I hit 100% fairways, 33% GIR, and had 14 putts.  The GIR is misleading as I was barely on the fringe on 4 occasions and that's mostly because I didn't have a hybrid in my bag.  I'll equip a hybrid next time, which means I'll lose a wedge, but there's no way to play this course given the test conditions w/out a hybrid.

Conclusion:  This one is more fair that I'd have thought, provided you are good with the hybrid.

GGO, I didn't have time to finish my round at Bethpage front 9, but was 1 under through 5.  Hard approaches, but makeable.

So, this mini-experiment led me to believe two things:

    1.  You shouldn't "dread" moving up a level.  You'll do fine.

    2.  There are enough unfair holes with bad wind conditions, that a 265-270 driver with slow meters is a justifiable request.  But I think it's something that should ONLY be available to legends.

Good luck, hit them well, and look me up for a game when you make the jump.

Lol, I am really starting to like you. Very thoughtful and thorough posts. Thank you. I still know from experience that the K15 driver from legend tees would be a real stretch, especially in certain scenarios against a head wind, but yes, it can be done most times, if you don't care to be competitive. Mind you, I did squeeze in a 66 (and could have done a bit better) at the USGA Oakmont tournament, which goes with legend tees and tournament greens. Nothing to boast, but somewhat respectable. I can't see myself playing with this driver handicap at the legend tier all the time. Would become frustrating.

I am as of now messing and missing with my R9 Tri and i15's. NUTS! Anyway, what the hell! Once in a while I can deal with this craziness. BUT NOT ALWAYS!

I would like to add to my previous posts the following words, as my insane 61.XX average stays put, no matter how poorly I play on any given day, simply because at some point I managed to squeeze in a few good scores : not only is this way of calculating the average insane; i.e., terribly inconsistent with a player's true abilities, and threatening to bump him or her up to a tier in which he or she is not really fit to play; it takes away the pleasure of feeling good about this average, since it is virtually meaningless. What is more, in multiplayer games, I find it a personal source of embarrassment, as I know my average misrepresents my real strength as a player, thus creating false expectations.

So I extend my plea to WGT  to please restore some significant degree of realism (see earlier suggestion here below*) in the calculation of the average, and find more reasonable ways of discouraging sandbagging.

    --------------------

    * I think the score of the occasional bad game could be largely ignored or not factored in, only affecting the average by a few insignificant decimals, whereas a number of higher scores over time would betray a trend or true skill level, and be appropriately counted in the calculation of this average.

As for foolish and unethical sandbaggers, there should be indeed a way of banning them or blocking them, or making an example of them to discourage further sandbagging,
