It's not something needed by people who know their clubs and all the courses but for newer players the info given is extremely useful.
Obviously very useful as clubs get upgraded and need mapping again, also when tiering up involves a change of tees, you want to know if your gonna clear trees from the new angles on the tees and approach shots.
If they fix it so it doesn't obstruct the map then I think it's a good addition to the game, just not for me.
