  Hi,

  I'll be giving myself the L59 Ping G25 irons for Christmas :-), and now I'm seeking some advice on which wedges will match these irons.

  I've been reading several posts about wedges, and my own thoughts are:

  Equal spacing will be a priority, so 100-80-60 or 100-75-50 would be my choice. If I don't want to mix different wedges, this can only be done with the the TM ATVs (would be 98-77-50...). But is it important to have three wedges of the same type? Do they behave very differently?

  Ideally, I would like to match the meter speed, but that is not possible at my level... so I guess I'll just keep hitting the ding every 10 shots... :-(

  To save some credits, I was considering the Ping Gorge L41/42 for 100 and 75 yards combined with the 50 yard L39 TM ATV. Would this setup make sense?

  Up until now I have been using starter balls. But from what I read it is a waste to buy the G25 irons and not upgrade the balls, so I will probably go for the tour-SD which seems to give quite a good value for your credits (I will not be testing a series of different balls).

  AFAIK, meter speeds of the wedges are quite similar, so you may mix brands and types without fear. I prefer the 50 yds setup, because 100% shots are the best shots and this provides 50 and 41 yds (add punches to your repertoire!)

  Later. you may exchange the Pings for better wedges with the L39 ATV as a solid basis. That's what I did (my Z Satin is the predecessor of the ATVs).

  Custom balls are essential for a better game, but beware: They wear and get lost, so you'll be spending credits steadily - I calculated about 10 nine hole rounds per sleeve.

  Looking at balls, Tour-SD is a good start. It has a fast meter which saves costs (alas slower than the Starters), and a tad more distance and spin than the lower balls. Try GI, GI2, GI3 if you prefer a (costly) slower meter. And don't stop yourself from buying a sleeve of other balls to test them - Srixons and the L33 Callies are another class in quality and price.

  Thanks for your reply. This seems to confirm that I can save some credits (maybe to upgrade to the Cleveland wedges at L74+) by mixing the wedges.

  I will be hesitant to try balls that cost more than 100 credits per sleeve. I want to be able to support myself with just a few hours of video watching per week. I want some time left to actually play the game :-) The clubs will be paid for by some of the one time offers, so i do not plan to generate thousands of credits going forward...

  i agree with you on the golf balls, i use the b-xd's   for this game i find them ok. and if  i lose them or wear them out they cost 10 credits. This is not the PGA tour it is just a cartoon game to me. Also slower meter clubs are a big help with the cheap balls. Just my opinion.
