  Thanks for responding so quickly!  That is awesome.  So you are saying there is no 'formula' that you used...you just figured all out manually.  And you did this with putting as well.  I just visually break down the swing meter when i putt and it works pretty well.

  I will give the wegde thing a try.  Thanks for the help.

  After hearing or viewing all this I have come to this conclusion.

  First I need to sign up for some lessons for the Cleveland wedges.

  Second it seems that having four wedges is the way to go.

  Third I'm not sure if the hybrid should not be the replacement for the 3 wood rather than the replacement for a wedge, esp if it comes out of the rough well.  Really how often do you really hit the 3 wood.

  Fourth it is very easy to confuse yourself   LOL

  I'm in the same boat, Tar. Worse, I used 5 wedges all through the TM tier and parting with one for a fairway wood was tough. The CGs took right good care of that and the R11 3w is exactly what fits the bill, so far. It doesn't perform that well out of the rough so I suppose I lose out on a few heroic rescue shots along the way not having a HB but I do use the R11 a lot more than I thought I would. Now, after following this discussion, I'm wondering if the HB would be more useful than the 3w.

  4 wedges is not negotiable for me.  :-)

  im debating between the R11 3w and R11 hybrid aswell. i think it comes down to driving accuracy. if your rarely hitting your drive into the deep stuff, its probably better to stick with the 3w, but if your fairway% sucks, i would probably go with the hybrid. for now i think im going to stick with the 3w, but my opinion may change once i make legend status.

  Well at St Andrews for example I only use the 3 wood at most 2 times in a round, on the par 5's and frankly only about 1/3 of the time since 5 is often reachable in less than a 3 wood, 14 is the one that I hit it on more often probably half the time depending on the wind of course.  I think that if WGT would allow us to hit a driver off the fairway we could eliminate the 3 wood.

  In looking at trouble shots, my fairways is mid 80% and when I miss I can usually recover with an iron so don't know the hybrid will help me there.

  Punch it with top spin. It works.

  I like MDV's answer because that's me-74% but improving with the R11. It sounds like maybe I should be looking at that HB.

  I have tried the punch driver with topspin but mixed results, rarely hit it longer than 200 yards, am I doing something wrong.

  No, that's about as good as it gets.

  On the 3w vs the HB I'm discovering the HB is good to carry at BPB and the 3w is good everywhere else. Now the problem is remembering this before teeing off.
