    YankeeJim:

Question for you, DS. The 3w doesn't do so good out of rough, how does the HB handle it? 30-40 and 40-50 to be specific.

The R11 hybrid is awesome out of the rough. It's an important strength.

"If it aint broke, don't fix it".

If your good with 3 wedges, then keep on that. Alot of players, including myself like the extra wedge to narrow the distance between wedges. This allows us to hit 90%+ power almost all the time. I do see your point about the hybrid though, and I would love to carry one, but at this time I prefer my 3w and 4th wedge. What I REALLY wish, is that wgt would allow us to swap out an iron for another club. I would gladly toss my 3iron in the lake for a chance to carry the R11 hybrid.

    This x1000.

That G10 3 iron is possessed. I won't hit that club with a tailwind because I can't for the life of me figure out how far the thing is going to go. I hit 274 yrds on St And one day and 243 on Oak in heavy winds!

The R11 3 wood is about as bad with a tail wind. You can hit it over 300 easy with a strong tail wind.

I have tried it both ways and say that both ways will work good. For me having 3 wedges that cover a small yardage spread means i know i can get good bite with it......but, now that they have them cleveland wedges that even at say 3/4 or less still give good bite. So if they come out with a 64 degree wedge that hits around 60 yards then  having a hybrid and two wedges at 100 yards and 60 yards would be a pretty good combo.

You guys are making it tough. I'm trying to decide between the two. It sounds like if you're going to carry one or the other the HB would be more useful over a broader range of lies. Will the HB play BPB3 in wind with the pin back?

Almost! lol 15mph out of the right and into slightly. It will at least get on! Not bad for a 225 yrd club.

You have to get rid of one of your fairway woods. I'm counting the PW that comes with whatever set you use as one wedge. Actually you only ADD 3 wedges.

    Hey Dar,

I have always had a hard time with my yardage gaps with 64/60 degree wedges.  When you say your 64 degree will go 30 yrds when you minus 5 clicks, how did you get that number.  Did you just use - 0.065 % for each movement?

I currently use punch as well as full shots and change from topspin to backspin to fill out my gaps.  I have found that anything more than 3 movements and the distance and ball flight become unpredictable, hence why i need 4 wedges.  Maybe i need to try it again though.

If could use your gapping method and it was effective i would be happy to carry the hybrid too!  Especially when i go legend in the next couple days.

    Thanks,

    Willy

Practice rounds with the ball I use. Full shot with full bs and full shot with no bs.

I used full shot with full back spin with my 64 and determined it will go 48yrds pretty much dead on every time. One club movement down will go 44 yrds. One more club movement down will go 40 yrds and so on. What I mean by club movement is the avatars movement in his backswing. I draw up to full power and slide back down watching the avatar club backswing decrease in movements. The same as the putter movements to judge distance.

This theory does not take wind, lie etc into account you still have to adjust for those which I do in my head.

Go out and make a practice round and do each wedge. It really doesn't take long at all and pays off big time for wedge accuracy.
