  Meter speeds are rather arbitrary on this game because what the meter speed says it not what  you get. Example.  Cleveland wedges say 3.5 meter speed.  Nike Irons, level 95's say 3.5 meter speed.  The actual speed of the meters are VERY different.  The Cleveland's are about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inch slower (you'll be early a lot).

  The ATV Wedges say 3.5 meter speed and are the same as the Nike 3.5 meter.  If you play some "Set of the Week" tournaments you'll notice some meter speeds should be the same based on there numbers but are in fact different (after a few shots it seems clear).

  So my Irons/Wedges are the same meter speed (regardless what WGT Meter speed says) but my Driver and Putter are sllllooooowwwwwwwwwwwww, so slow in fact I don't worry about them being same meter as everything else.

  Having said that, the best way to hit consistent shots is to fixate on the Ding line and then click when needed.  So???? What now lol.  I think the 4.0 meter will be ok.  Most people have very different meter speeds whether they realize it or not.

  Thanks for the feedback guys - very helpful.

  I play like the first example that MainzMan gave - I try to follow the meter all the way to the "ding" line, and then hit it. Though with my wedges (which are the fastest clubs in my bag), I'm always a little behind, so with those I follow the line all the way across, then tap *just* before it gets to the "ding" line, to make up for my poor reflexes.  :)

  Regardless, it sounds like the L59 G25 is the way to go.  Now I just have to get to L59 (and pick up some credits along the way - I only have about 1,900 at present and those irons cost 2,395, if memory serves).

  I think it will work OK for you.  At the lower levels its very hard to find the better equipment and still have the meter speeds be the same.  Especially wedges.

   I never tried those Ping Gorge wedges, and used the ATV high L30's type myself.  Then I went to the top level Cleveland's when they were available to me.

  Damian (MM) is right in how you watch the meter will make a difference.  I have always been a follow it across the screen type of player.  

  Your driver and 3W are fine, and nothing better will be available until you get up above L70+.  I would not make a change until you get to Legend tier and start playing from the tips.  Hopefully by then you will be in or near L90+ and have a chance to get equipment near the top of the line.

  Edit:  Sean (11BC2) was posting at the same time I was.  He is correct about all meter speeds not being the same with different clubs.  Best advice is to try and rent (for free) before buying whenever possible.  Take advantage of the free 2 hour rentals when you level up.  By starting an 18 hole ranked round, you can save it and return later and the rentals will still be available until you finish the round.

  I rather like the driver and 3 wood that I'm playing now.

  The wedges (I have two of the low L40's Gorge wedges and one of the high L30's ATV wedges) all seem to play similarly, to my (admittedly inexperienced) hand.  I went with this combo because I liked the distance spread (50/75/95) and thought they would eventually marry well with the G25 PW which I've read has a distance of 115.  And the Gorge wedges were a little cheaper than the ATV, to boot.

  Probably the last thing I'll upgrade is the putter. The one I have was gifted by somebody in my CC and it performs adequately.  When it misses, it's usually my fault, not the putter's (I've found that to be true with real life putting as well - my user name reflects the fact that I'm still hitting the real life putter I bought in 1996.  I've found that when I do my part, it still does it's part just as well as it did the day I bought it.)

  Quick follow up question about putter meter speed, specifically.

  I upgraded to the L55 Daytona, so I'm still getting used to the 15' meter (MANY times already I've accidentally used the 15' meter when I meant to use the 30' meter).  Point is, the 15' meter is new to me because my starter putter didn't have it.

  Anyhow, my question: It *seems* that the "meter speed" is slightly slower on the 15' scale than it is on the other scales for this putter - has anyone else noticed that, or am I imagining it?  I seem to "ding" more on the 15' scale, even when I'm using it closer to "full power".  Thoughts?
