    K7JBQ:

Some holes -- BPB #2 comes readily to mind, absolutely require full bs to get over the tree. And some, like Olympic #5, require full ts to get under the big branch.

These from the Legend tees. Your mileage will vary from the shorter ones.

In any event, adding a bit of backspin to most drives will lead to longer drives. Give it a try.

I'm surprised. I thought backspin slows down the ball. I tested my irons, they hit shorter with backspin than without. I will try driving with backspin, and see if it goes longer, thanks

True with irons, but with the driver, a bit of backspin gives you a higher shot that tends to carry a bit better. At least that's been my experience.

Depends on wind conditions. Into a strong headwind full B/S loses many yards will all club types. With a strong tail wind even irons can gain yardage with full B/S. Experiment with different spin settings and you will find a near perfect carry/rollout setting.

...and to add, if I remember w/ the high distance/spin balls my high trajectory Bertha driver with no tailwind and a favorable FW (that doesn't rise up) a percentage of top spin 'de-lofts' the shot and the ball 'line drives' forward a lot instead of all that power going into spinning and raising the ball in the air,

because, sometimes, you don't need the stopping power and some FWs allow a downward rollout, plus the ball seems less affected by strong crosswinds.

Too much TS and the ball hits the ground too soon and rolls.

Again, it depends of the conditions etc. But the common knee jerk is to add FBS.

I've tested on video how, in a front wind, some drives on STA 1 were going longer w/ TS than with BS, again it depends on the ball, wind and conditions.

I'll keep trying w/ different proshop distance balls.

St A drives with TS is better because there is usually a downhill in the landing area

I'm fairly new to the game, I guess more practice is in order.
