Without suggesting I pour over the numerous results found using the search box window, can any seasoned pros lend any basic suggestions on how to compensate for various %'s of lie, by (I assume?) changing club selection or swing meter power.

I'm beginning to fine-tune my game, but still have a lot of difficulty figuring out how to adjust club selection/meter power, especially when landing in the rough & how it relates to % of lie. Am looking for bare bones basic info to get me started. I have no problem with club selection, swing meter power, or aim point on flat lies.

It depends on the % number PLUS on the nature of the ground PLUS on the distance you want to cover PLUS on the quality of your clubs.

    Two primal guidelines:

    - put the Punch shot into play, respecting their low and short trajectory,

    - only wedges from 30+% bunkers.

    Agree with alosso.

The only thing I would add is that I typically add full topspin to the ball and choose at least one club length over the stated distance.

30-40 rough, add 1 club. 40-50 rough, add 2 clubs. 50-60 and higher, punch back to the fairway and take your medicine there, save par. Heroic shots are what bogeys and worse  are made of.

I disagree on the wedge comment from traps- there are fairway traps that play halfway decent with full swings and regular clubs. Rule of thumb there-don't take more than what the caddie suggests, treat that as a warning.

There is a lot of fantastic help on the forums from very experienced players. Take what advice they are giving and Do practice rounds. I can't tell you how many hours I spent in practice mode, especially with my short game. Punch Shots are an invaluable tool to have to get out of trouble.

All of it takes practice, practice, practice.
