  The game keeps putting up ads where the play button and show friends should be. If I get rid of one ad, another pops up in its place. Nothing I do seems to bring up the play button.

  I seem to remember someone having this a few years ago. It ended up being an AdWare infection that targets flash. The area affected is controlled by flash. I don't know whether a system restore would fix it or not. If the infecting files are in user folders, a restore would ignore them.

  Double ouch on the restore bit. Like taking a sledgehammer to a gnat. Adblock resolves it.
