I have been playing for a couple of months and I am in level 33. I am mostly playing on my ipad. My average is still on 150 and none of my other stats seem to be active and running. How do I get them running?

Play ranked rounds. You must just be playing the coin rooms. For the most part, those rounds are like practice rounds. After launching the app, click on the menu in the upper-left hand corner and select "Courses." Then play any of the courses.

Looks like you figured it out but be advised, par 3 and Par 5 holes don't affect the average.

Not sure about the benefit of that(?)

Beware which numbers given by the game are relevant and which are not!

If - mostly on mobile - so. decides only to play the games which are off stats (H2H and "room" matches are considered practice) it is perfectly o.k. IMHO. Tier will be cared for by the level obtained, until TM. And, fun out weighs stats.

There's no incentive linked to stats, no leaderboards, and it's difficult to know what is "good" or "bad". Furthermore, the stats' relevance is degraded because they are "eternal" - all the games will count in from the first to the last, no reset at any time!

There's plenty of benefit, especially in the OP's position where he can see his progress immediately. Not everybody shares your jaded view of the statistical process employed by the game. The OP is in an envious position, IMO. I certainly would have like to have known then what I know now about how stats work.

Going ad hominem without any argument? That sounds terribly hollow.

Disadvantage starts when having to play games that one doesn't want to play, just to see stats that do not apply to the wanted games.

    +1

Stats can give an "impression" of a player's history or ability but that's about it.

You can get a better impression by considering a player's recent activity or score history but even there you are limited to seeing the last couple of hundred eligible rounds to get a sense of what is going on, since stats can go back years and the player might have changed preferences in the different types of ranked play.

Using my own example you might think my stats are ok until you consider that I like to play unlimited tourneys exclusively.  A player with stats similar to mine with only single play or ready go's in their history would be a far superior player even though the stats alone would not reflect that.

All in all I think stats can be useful as a personal gauge to the player that owns them.  In general they know best how they came about and can choose to use them for monitoring their progress.  Looking at other player's stats can give you some insights and is helpful to single out some glaring strengths or weaknesses but can be much trickier to interpret overall.

Yes and like you said, they're pretty much useless to most that have many rounds over a long time. The plus for the OP here is that he is starting from zero so they will be very accurate for him. Used as a tool to improve his game, they mean something at his stage.
