there are few factors, such as

    1. elevation

    2. wind

    3. type of spin

    4. type of club

    5. flight path

    6. type of ball

    7. whether you dinged or missed

    8. random deviation

it's also important to remember that club distance = club flight + run. with different balls/wind and the elements those 2 can be manipulated.

aqs you can see, many things determine how club will act

What I mean is  " a  9I = 127 yards. What ball determined that? The starter ball, or a Callaway?

Is he not asking how the average distance for a given club is arrived at?

i.e. if  a club is shown as 200yd, how was that determined?

Is the starter ball the default guideline, e.g.?

You expected WGT to give you a straight answer? Ive been here 2 months and even I know WGT sidesteps questions and gives a generic answer that only halfway resembles an actual answer.

    I thought I did...

A 200 clubs a 200 club with all things equal. For example

hitting on 0 elevation, with no wind, ding, with free ball. then it will club 200 on average, sometimes longer or shorter and other times left or right within a certain precision circle.

The things I mentioned, all change how the club travels...

If anyone has another question, feel free to ask but please, try to be more specific :)

    NOW you answered the question.

    WGTicon:

hitting on 0 elevation, with no wind, ding, with free ball

That's the part you were missing from your first answer. The original question was which ball are the est distances calculated with. You described what factors to use when calculating which club to use.

OK thanks for the answer . Since we can't set up a practice course with no wind , so we can test our clubs with the ball of our choice.

In your opinion how much further will a callaway / s / ball go ?

    Thanks Gary

    Strange how this forum works.

When i posted at 7.19 there was no post at 7.17, even hours later.

Makes my post look like i'm just repeating what he said.

    I'll second that.

When I read this thread last night, yours was the second post.  Now it's not.

I was beginning to wonder what the heck was in my coffee this morning.  I thought maybe somebody switched the sugar with something much weirder....
