If you miss on the wrong side of the ding-like the side the wind is blowing to-you'll always go in that direction, regardless. Miss into the wind and that won't happen.

There are many players that ADJUST their game to compensate rather than come to the Forums and point fingers.

There are threads on this topic of club forgiveness and how it works . Use the search box >>>>>> and look them up . Im a miss ding player and have to adjust my play to compensate for the possible deviation which I may get , when playing . Sometimes when playing the ball comes off the club at 11 o`clock even after hitting the ding . To me it doesnt matter as long as the ball goes where I want it to .

So look up the threads on club precision or club forgiveness and deviation . These will really help you to play and understand the game effects .

Jim is spot on here.  When I miss the "ding" slightly in the same direction of the wind it's amazing how much the ball can move.

How much it moves also varies a lot depending on how much spin you put on the ball.  OP us using irons with 4.5 spin and balls with 5.2 spin.  So if he's hitting approach shots with full back-spin a slight "mis-ding" with the wind blowing in the wrong direction has the potential to move the ball a ton, even on very short shots.

I'm a huge fan of high spin irons and balls.  They can be really amazing when hit correctly, but the penalty can be steep on mishits.
