    Hi WGT,

I would like to see averages go up when playing over said average all the time rather than just for a certain number of rounds after changing tiers, my average and EVERYONE else's average are way lower than they should be due to WGT's current format.

I'm supposed to hit 27 everytime according to my average which is ridiculous because I am human and not a robot, I believe I can play to around a 60 average all the time so I am asking WGT to take a look at the current system and make it like a real golf average (handicap) system which goes up or down depending on your score.

And furthermore......CC tourneys off easier tees than your current tier should not count to lowering your average either......

    Toughen Up !!!!!

    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Greg.

Agreed, but only at the top tier......otherwise sandbaggers heaven

100% agree and never should have counted IMO

Don't want to be Champion? <scnr>

In earnest, low averages and rising tiers are as good for the company as is the grind - that's the way they want it.

They may be fun sometimes, but they always go at the expense of lower tiers :(

Your decision to play them - initiate regular tournaments in your CC or play WGT's tourneys.

    Have fun!

Fixating on one number such as scoring average on the WGT site can be misleading. If a true scoring average were used, the next issue that would come up would be completed rounds. Some players might become so protective of their average that any round that might raise that average would not be completed.

The demand for pitch and putt country club tournaments would certainly climb. How would these impact play or averages? Next might be a demand that WGT run tournaments, both free and RTG,  based on this "true" average.

It is bad enough that there are some sandbaggers who avoid tier advancement through ranked round manipulation, but to possibly have even more through average sandbagging would change WGT even more. I don't have any thoughts on how it might impact multi-account players, but I am sure someone would find a way to use "true average" to their benefit with a second account.

Well, actually, no that's not true. According to your average, you should hit 27 as an average of the number of all rounds you play, assuming the scores follow a normal distribution and you have a large enough sample size. An average is not an indication of what you should score every time you play.

Regardless, the averages really simply serve the purpose of placing players in their proper tiers. After that, players' averages are fairly meaningless. Besides, data are data. It's our interpretation of the data that is important. The data simply need to be properly interpreted. That doesn't change.

Rumour has it that it was that way in the beginning.

Equipment was released by tier, and tier was awarded acc. to average. Some players are said to have advanced, purchased clubs and then raised their average to drop back into the lower tier. Master equipment would give a good advantage in TP tier (there was no Legend tier then).

In Oct 2010(?), the current system and Legend tier were introduced. Don't expect them to go back!

I would have to agree, this is the way the system is designed.

WGT want to see players have the drive to reach level xyz. achieve an average of 50 as it is good for the self appreciation club.

Rising tiers only is a personal goal for most, and as equipment is level based, this is the driver for many to play daily, hence the change in accumulators for XP for consecutive days. For many this is the incentive, and maybe reaching level 125 will be the new equivalent of reaching level 90 in the future - and new shiny and better toys become available (I used level 90 as this is when the once best irons, R11's became available). That would then drive the players even more to attain the best equipment

OK, maybe the equipment will not be significantly better, otherwise we will be driving the ball 400 yards every drive and sinking every putt.

Therein lies the problem....equipment has become far too good and needs toning down.....but that would mean less sales, less 50's being shot etc.......so back to the risk/reward scenario. The problem there is the security sweeps seem to have taken a leave of absence, and therefore the only reward would be to those the SS do not catch.

As for the red tees - I am not saying get rid of them, they can be fun when used once in a blue moon - all I am saying they should never be used in calculating an average......but that hurts the egos of the players who want those low averages.......and if it has not changed by now........it never will lol

True! It appears as a contradiction in itself, paving the way for quicker tier success! But, those may follow that road - I have no pity for egobaggers who rise prematurely and make life more difficult for themselves.
