Good luck and try to make the most of the journey. I started a club a long time ago and took it to more than 200 members in what turned out to be one of the hardest and most thankless and unappreciated task I ever took on. Typically, you are lucky to have only a select few that will read and post to your forum. And the biggest slap in the face is when you see a post in that forum by someone asking who you are. . .the founder of the club!

The cliques that form, the people that will just join to get the free shot/putter pals, the people that just play in club tournaments with no interaction at all with other members.

I couldn't take it any longer, and handed of the club to another member. He couldn't take it and did the same thing after less than a year. . .and so on and so on and so on. Now that club has less than 50 members and only one that was there when I left.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but it is good that you hear it so those things will not blindside you.

It is a thankless job running a club, and unfortunately not everyone who joins is going to last.

I've been running our club since 2010 and its been a long arduous trip. lol

after 8 yrs we are finally at a level 8 but only have 62 members.

But even that is only temporary if you want your club to be an active club.

(removing members that are no longer active)

I've seen a lot of big club with only 10 members or less that are active.

(not all mind you, but quite a few)

Stay your course and lead by example.
