  I think I would prefer an option to stop the golf, as this often gets in the way of a good natter.

  I tend to feel the other person out for the first couple of holes.  I know pretty quick if they are chatty or not.  I don't mind either way if there is no conversation or a lot.  It doesn't really affect my game.  I agree with piztaker though, I like using real words in real sentences.  I have no clue what some of these abbreviations are that people use. lol.
