I think my favourite thing about WGT is the fact you can play with other random players at any time. During this you can chat about how terribly you're playing, where each of you are from, or perhaps even how WGT is screwing up all the time!!!! Which is nonsense...This is a great site and will continue to be for a long time...

But getting back to my point...stroke play with other random players. I enjoy a good chat while playing golf, I dare say it even helps me to relax and make me play better. But you also get some players who when you enter the first hole will give you the customary "gl", and then not a peep there after till the last hole where you once again get given the well mannerd "well played".

So I guess I would like to know what people think about chatting while playing...pro or against. I'm definitely pro, but I would like to know what others feel, or maybe even might have a keyword for "silence....i keel you!" for those who dont want to chat at all during a round.

For me personally it's a mixed bag....most of the time I enjoy the chatting, but there are sometimes that I don't feel very talkative and just play, giving as you stated, a gl, ns's and gg. So for me it just depends on my mood.

You know... i thought about this and you can ask others I play with

    1. sometimes when we get on skype, I will talk your ear out

    2. other times, I am so tired, that I just wanna hit

    3. if not for skype, the same may apply to chat window... sometimes I will talk and other times I don't

I think it's important to know that when you play with friends, not talking doesn't mean anything else. To me, a sign of a good round is knowing that we don't need to talk to enjoy playing with each other, especially when we can get 18 holes done in 50 minutes that way.

    Hi Timbo

I'm the same as you, I like a bit of chatter during a game. We don't have to try and work out the meaning of life etc but I like a bit of friendly banter.

I suppose the only time I am what may appear to be quiet is when my good lady is yelling down my earhole.

However if I am ever silent through an entire game then I am quite likely thinking of boobs...or beer....or both. This more often than not means my mind is in a state of flux and I am unable to communicate whilst pondering on these highly important subjects !

    ;-)

All the GL. NB and GG get me down. What's wrong with using real words?

This as close to real golf as it gets. Chat is part  of the game, Its called bonding.

Amen to that.  It's just laziness.  Don't even get me started on the dreaded 'lol'.

I am here to play golf and not chat.  I will engage in chat if the subject suits me.  I generally comment on opponents shots (GS, gr8 shot etc.). It would be great if WGT could install a "no chat" button so I don't have to look at the flashing chat button when playing with someone that  is abusive or unusually chatty. Having the option to turn off the chat would be really cool.

    Just my 2 cents.....
