I can understand the rant. But this has nothing to do with a professional sandbagger.

Yes, legends will toast a lot of players on Beth, because Beth becomes one of the easier courses with the latest good equipment, and good legends have worked their way up to that status playing Beth. It's the oldest course as well - so those here for two years will know it. Tour Pros and below with low levels won't have the best equipment to make their tee advantage count. Thus creamed.

However, a sandbagger will be a very high level player playing off short tees. That means he has access to the same clubs and balls as legends. I think the very top players will still win - just by experience. But players like myself would have to bring their very best game to the course.

Legends shouldn't play Tour Pro or lower for credits anyway. The warning is clear enough if you think about it.

The real issue is sandbaggers hoovering up all the credits in their Tiered tournaments. Doesn't give other lower tiered players a chance. That's my issue. Not my problem, but a problem for new players looking to improve and earn enough to buy good gear.

Now Pete that is worthy of merit - the pay to play to see if they can get in the money bracket, I am sure there are some that is a way for them to get some credits to buy things.

I saved the screen shot when I did it on Kiawah was thinking I got both halves of the card, but I did not. I had a score of 12 under Par on Kiawah for 18 holes, at the time I had just turned Pro Tier with the gear that I currently still use, boy did I get trashed talked in to the ground and we was only playing Practice, a practice game. I thought wow really, I win 1 stinking game of Practice because I got lucky and could not miss a shot.

I have not played them again, and they refuse to chat or play me again because " I am a sandbagging - worthless scum of a D$@&! Bag cheater " so it is not OK to have a great game. Have some luck turn your way, or the planets line up just so, what ever it was that day has never came back to visit again.

So I guess it is how the term "sandbagger" gets tossed out there that gets me. Maybe some of us just get lucky ( Once in a Blue Moon of the 4th Month That Has A 5th Tuesday ) not to say that there are not those that exploit for what ever reason.

I seen a player high lighted on the website Level 66 / Tier Am / Avg. 61.xx does it make sense yeah if you play the toon a certain way, that is possible to do. Is it right, guess that depends on who's eyes you look through. WGT has it set-up like it is for what ever their reason is, each of us have a different way we would like it to be.

Myself why not use only 3 tees - Hack beginner / Amateur after level 30 / Pro after you shoot even par so many games. All games count, every hit you make counts.

Is the game only fun if we hit nothing but long straight perfect shots every time?
Is the game only fun if we shoot every hole bird or less?

I have weighed in on this subject, and I feel it is a simple solution:

    Two steps - Step one

Any tier player can get any club.  So, in competitions where players from differing tiers compete, whether AS, MP, RG, etc., have everyone hit from the same tees.

    Step two

Include MPC credits in winnings and have winnings factored into the tier system.  Once you win X credits at a certain tier, you elevate regardless of average.

What if the tee's moved back when your level went up and the green speed went up on your tier. Job done...no?

    Cheers

The system WGT has put in place makes this very difficult to police.  You can get to a tour pro and not progress in terms of your tier by just not playing ranked stroke play or at least throwing in a few bad rounds to keep your average above the progression line.

Someone mentioned to me that the only true way to handle this is to promote people based not upon scoring but upon levels.  If you play a lot and get to level 90 and can buy everything known to man, then you are at the highest tier.  This sorts of hurts the people who play a lot and enjoy it but just aren't very good but it solves the sandbagging issues.

Another way would be to have two versions of players (I know more tiers) but what I think is a person can sign up for a fun account and only play in non credit performance matches, random draw, match play for fun, alt shot, blitz, etc.  Of course most of the people who would fall in that group aren't playing for money anyway and the sandbaggers don't bother them.

There are ways to solve these issues, however i would say that none of them will make everyone happy.
