anybody else have the glitch on the 5th at st. andrews today? Played it twice today and both times the second shot went off like a rocket, ending up about 100 yards past the pin.

    hi

sounds like you have landed both times on a downslope.

If you put forward spin on your ball and it lands on the down slope then you get that effect. Ideally you use the forward camera angle to judge if you will land on down slope or up slope.

Not unusual on that hole since the configuration of the green lends itself to accelerating a ball that lands anywhere near the pin, accentuated more so with a following wind.

Look upon it as a great way to make a 100 yard plus Eagle Putt.

Thanks for your responses but they don't fit. I hit a 4-iron (starter set, 170 yards) and the ball travelled 277 yards. I don't get that distance with a driver, even with a 20mph wind behind me.

they don't fit in the real world... yes

but in wgt land, hitting a down slope will carry the ball forever

i did the same myself today.... tried to hit a punch 3 wd out of 60% fescue (180 to green ), it went 2 yrds, said f... it,,,,,,,, hit the next full 4i (the club given by wgt caddy) out of 50% fescue, pitched at about 85 yards - on down slope - and then ran all the way to the green pin high, 37 ft par, thank you very much

this is a simulation, not real golf, some things will be a little odd

i know, i usually have to land the ball 50 yards to the front of the green and pray i can get in to barely roll over that mound & down,,,not 100 feet down to the bottem of that football field green.
