    stevenharkin:

we could chat about wind all day long...if ya dont like it just don't enter..all i'l say is i personally enjoy the challenge..gets me thinking more about me game and it takes full concentration..

wereas low winds ..you know your next shot before your previous shot is even finished..find that kinda boring to be honest..we all different and have our own pref's:)

This discussion is about whether or not wind should be variable in a RG, or should it be a static set for everyone. Its never been about 'if ya don't like it just don't enter'.

I dont think anyone is saying wind doesn't add an enjoyable dimension.

I have said previously I like the challenge of heavy wind, but how do I measure myself against the best on site with variable conditions? Is it a false achievement winning a RG where I had 95 % favourable winds against a field that had 95% unfavourable?

How would it be in a hustle match teeing it up and your opponent had a 30 tailwind, but you had a 28 headwind on RSG 4th hole? Would that be a level playing field? A fair match? And how would you feel if his answer was 'if ya don't like it just dont enter'

I think if everyone had identical heavy wind conditions in a RG, there is zero cause for anyone to complain, it is fair, it would be as challenging as normal, and the player who wins deserves to. Can't say fairer than that.

Maybe it's on purpose, maybe the conditions we get are somehow tied to our average, so that the 'less talented' players have an environmental advantage and are willing  to enter such tournaments.

Who has bad thoughts committs a sin, but is often right...

    i'm hearing ya kam..

some holes can have its advantages / disadvantages depending on wind..hole 4 rsg being 1 example as you say..trying to play that with 30mph tailwind also has it's dangers ( fairway narrows further you hit it..making G.I.R near impossible if you miss the short stuff)

i think wgt would have it static as you recommend...but i also think they worry about the chance of users spreading the word on what's the windest for that particular tourny, which then leads to users adjusting their clubs to suit best...

for me personally, i'm happy enough the way it's set up at the mo...but as you say it prob would be fairer if it was set-up the same for every1, and you would prob see more interest if this was the case...i've noticed that the high winds RG's def take longer to fill..maybe wgt will change it ..wouldnt count on it tho :)

I think for Legends playing from the tips, there would be no need to change clubs whatever the wind set, I do agree that lower tiers could benefit and switch in a hybrid etc if a particular shot required it. Simplest solution would be WGT publish a course guide for each 'set wind' RG, therefore everyone has the same knowledge in advance should they wish to use it?

Also like the conspiracy theory Jack, while we are at it does anyone know who player 50 is? You know the one, the guy who enters 90% of the RG's but never plays leaving the rest of us waiting 12 hours for our payout and the opportunity to play the same RG again....

With reference to Icon's comment about maybe not having high wind RG's is the way to go, I would disagree and no offence but would simply see that as an easy way out.

I think that would dilute the challenge of the game, I personally like the challenge of playing in the wind, its just I would prefer a fair challenge where everyone gets the same.

Thanks to everyone for your input, it is a very interesting discussion, and one I feel needs to be had now that high stakes RG's are in play.

I agree.  Don't take out the challenge, but change the way it's presented.  WGT's whole argument about everyone having the same wind is that people will pay to see the windset, then go to their second account  tell their friends what clubs to use.  Solution to this is have the winds follow the flow of the course.  This way you introduce true balance, and it also becomes more realistic.  From a programming side is it easy?  Hell I don't know, I'm a simple locksmith not a programmer.  But until a change is made with high winds (whether thru same windset for all or flow of course winds) and it becomes a "skill test" rather than a gamble, I won't play in the high wind RG's
