Playing in a coin room, Beverly Hills, against a legend. I tee off then she hits when I notice something different. Her tee was 20 yards in front of me, I'm a master. Is this a mistake?

There are a handful of holes where this occurs, check this table for where they are.

The numbers in bold are the longest for each hole.

It's not a mistake so much as it is a limitation in the game format.

In real life, Bethpage Black #15 (which is what that hole is) would play as a par 5 for you (Blue tees) and a par 4 for your opponent (Championship tees) and the difference would be made up through the handicapping system.  Since WGT doesn't use a true course handicapping system with slope/rating, you both have to play it as the same par.

As Scott points out, there are a few instances where this is the case on the courses used in WGT.

Also keep in mind that because of the angle of the tee to the fairway/green, or any obstacles between the tee/fairway/green, holes can have the same par and same distance from tee to green, but the Championship tees are a much harder shot.

An example of this would be a par 3 where both the Blue and Championship tees are 182yds from the pin, but the Championships are at a totally different angle that requires you to carry a bunker or avoid a tree that the Blues don't.  Or a par 4 that are both 430yds, but the Blue tees are a straight line from tee to fairway while the Championship tees actually have a shorter landing area due to the angle the tee is set to the fairway.

When I saw the title of the post I was expecting another post requesting the ability to move around in the tee box.
