I am new to WGT.  I am at level 79, using a TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver.  It is rated at 280 yards;  the target is always at 240 and my drives average in the mid 250 yards.  How do I reach the potential of 280+ which the driver is rated?

    Better ball

He should still be getting 280 even with the Starter ball unless he's hitting into wind or onto a fairway that's sloping up.  You'll hit undulations on the fairways from time to time that will stop the ball from rolling much but that's something that just happens. I used an earlier version of the L74 driver when I was at that level and I don't remember any distance problems even with the Starter ball.  Better ball and Swing Edge hat help but it still seems like he should be getting better distance than the mid-250's with that driver.

What kind of spin are you using and are you hitting on or very near the ding line?  You might think Topspin is your friend, but what you lose in carry will quickly eat up those extra few yards of rollout.  There are a few courses/spots/winds where a little Topspin can be beneficial, but usually will hurt more than it helps.  And almost anytime you severely miss the ding it's going to rob you of some power.

Just guessing - a "bad" driver? (Not every model is the same quality)

I frequently hit well above my driver's rating by 20, 30 yds. I also place the target further than the possible distance - saves me from unpleasant surprises, methinks.
