Noticed I still have my default starter sand wedge in the bag and wondered if you guys could recommend a replacement.

I have a Ping Tour-W 58 wedge and a Z Satin TP 64 so any ideas which club would compliment these?

    Cheers

Look at the gaps in your wedge distances. If you use all of the shots you get really good coverage by adding the Satin 60W (77 yards) and getting a little longer 3rd wedge, like the Satin 56(93 yds) or Satin 54 (98yds.) I use the Satins as an example because you already have the best Satin there is in that 64W.

Killer club chart thanks to the efforts of Serenity Steele and others.

your PW is 112 yds and Ping is 85... I'd get something between those. Ping 54 (105 yds) or Z satin 54 (98). When you upgrade irons the gap between them and wedges will get even bigger.

He already has this if he uses the punch shot with the set PW.

I'm not much familiar with using the punch shot for wedge and lower iron approaches, so I was wondering, do punch shots stop just as predictably as full shots when approaching the green, or do you need to allow more room for roll?

seems I'd be scared to use a punch shot when needing to clear something like a bunker when approaching the pin

Spin controls a punch quite well-experiment. Wind affects them less and they're great gap fillers. Lower wedge punch trajectories are not a factor-trust the distance. Longer irons need that roll out consideration. Punching out of rough works well too, especially 40-50 and higher.

I got a tip from over 2 years ago from a long time great player, past winner of the British Open. He once said that his 64W punch was the most valuable shot he had in his bag. Been doing like George Foreman ever since.  :-)

The longer irons roll a lot. Use it when you want to make a long run up to a hole where you have a lot of fairway/green in front. Others may have better ideas as I don't use that shot with longer irons myself. R11s and spinners don't need to.
