I'm a flop shot guy myself. i find I drain a lot more flops than chips, simply because there's less green to read. With a 15 yard flop shot, I only need to read the last 3-4 feet of green. With a chip shot, I have to read 15 yards (or 45 feet) of green. Minor changes in green elevation (inches up and inches down) are nearly irrelevant when hitting a flop shot, whereas with a chip it affects the speed.
If I'm inside 7 yards, I'll usually hit the chip. 7-30 yards I hit the flop shot. 30-49 yards I'm usually hitting the 64 degree punch shot. 50-63 yards is a 64 degree full swing. 64-70 yards is my 58 degree punch shot. 71 yards and up are usually full swings.
