I have always used the miss the ding method and i LOVE the Nike putter (level 51). I tried ALL putters in this game for sometime and the Nike L51 is clearly the best for my putting the level 77 Nike was way worse and 500 credits more...

I have a random question related to putting.  a few weeks back I upgraded to spider (level 36 or whatever the low level is) and my putting has went downhill from the starter putter.

My question is, when folks putt, do they normally move the arrow from the hole over left or right to sink the putt on a slope, or do folks normally use the putter guage by going left or right of the "ding" line to sink putts on a slope?

I always have, since day 1, use the ding method.  I keep the arrow direct on the hole, then just go left or right of the excellent mark (ding) depending on the slope and it was super easy with starter, but with spider, its a lot harder to do that way until you get much much practice with it.

Due to the much higher forgiveness of the Ghost Spider the miss the ding method is extremely hard to do. Because the forgiveness tries to keep the putt on the line chosen you must miss the ding much more than with the starter which had much less forgiveness. The best approach to putting with the better putters is to chose your line allowing for the break and try to ding the putt. I have never understood the miss the ding method anyway.  Would you aim right at the hole and then either push or pull your putt in real life? I think not, So why do it here? I know there are some very good players who putt well with this method but with the better putters it is a very difficult way to play.

Strange, I figure I was the only oddball using this method.

I figure that most use the move arrow method as that is the method taught in tutorials.

i have allways moved the arrow not thinking about the miss the ding aproach then a friend sujested it to me and i have dropped 1-2 off of my score i now find it much easyer to guage it by the miss ding method

If you are missing the ding then you are bringing in another variable which is the distance loss that results, so why do that.

    Keep it simple.

Of course if you do miss, then always miss on the high side - the side where the break comes from, and the putt will always have a chance of going in.

EDIT : November - I am in the depths of a putting slump, please ignore all I say.
