The three cooling towers and chimney stack seen in the background in
some of the shots round this course. were blown up on yesterday at
09.00. ( Shame they couldn't have had old Fred Dibnah in his prime
burning them down)
There is some footage on you tube, I feel quite sad about it, they
were there for over 50 years. Won't seem the same driving past there
now.
But at least WGT has them preserved for all to see :))
Misstery - don't know why you locked your thread as I would have liked to reply to it. Yes, it is a real shame as it was definitely a landmark. And the fact that is was now unused means it wasn't harming anyone or anything. But I guess the fact that is has been unused for some time is also the reason it was knocked down... probably to build yet another supermarket!
