  There is already an intra-game/match play chat between the players.  I would suggest adding a chat function to that would allow you chat with your friends on a separate window as well as being able to chat with players within a match in a window as well so you can have discussions that are not privy to other players.

  Get Skype...works quite well for both text and verbal chat...H
