IMO the putting needs to be made harder. The top players have putting averages of 1.30, that is incredibly lower than golfers on the pga tour.

    Oak,

i appreciate the suggestions.  i try to manage my shots to leave full wedges in even if that means hitting less then maximum clubs into greens.  say if I have 290 to the green i will try to leave myself somewhere between 90-100 yards out in order to not have to mess with half shots etc.  I seem to have that down pretty go and the chipping pitching while a work in process is definately improving.  The rant was more out of 2 weeks of frustration then anything else.

I think the people with 1.3 averages has way more to do with how close people hit it then the putting.  If you look at the putting stats from 10 feet and out that should give a good barometer.  I've played with some people that never seem to have birdie putts outside 10 feet.

Precisely why the extra wedge coverage will lower your scores.  Hitting mostly full 75 yard and 50-60 yard wedge shots will lead to many more birdie opportunities than hitting either full or partial 90 yard ones.   Your shots should, and will, be closer.  In addition, executing a 10 yard pitch is much easier with a 15 yard club rather than a 30 yard one.   For further evidence, check the bags of the top players on the home page.

Just give it a try.  Heck, its only another 200 credits at this point if you buy a new one.  :)  Unless you already have Pro level wedges bagged that you're not using, I might look to the Ping 64* that goes 60 yards full.  The starter 60W will give similar performance without the precision and spin potential.

    Good luck either way.

mas-I do this to this day-lay up to the strength of your best wedge. Instead of whacking away and dealing with the result course management like this helps tremendously. The wedge Oak speaks of, the short one like a 64W, will really help for those shots that roll off or get hit wrong leaving you off target. GL

See my replay regarding the infamous lip outs.  Granted the putt was hit with pace but you would expect the lip out to spin out and leave me with a few feet not 2 inches.

On the ludicrousness of the putting - is it a programming error or a case of sadism on the programmers' side that causes the wrong putting swing-scale to appear from time to time?

A few times, I've had say a 12 foot putt, aimed and shot only to watch my putt end up 50ft past the hole - all because I wasn't paying attention and the system gave me a 150ft swing scale when it should have been 30.  I know, I know, silly me - I should always check, but presenting me with a 150' scale for a 12' putt is just rude!

My experience shows the putting scale going to 150 whenever your on the fringe. I have been there before and sympathize with you, lol.

    I would agree...

You get to the point where you check your scale automatically after you've been burned like this a few times.
