Rzbk:
Interesting post. How much better were the Nike's at stopping? This seems a big problem when the fairways are so long and using a low numbered iron to reach the green. .
Thanks
Rxbk,
I couldn't tell you that it made that much difference compared to the S balls as far as the backspin goes. They seemed the same to me. The slower meter speed is the only drawback to the S balls. The meter speed on the S balls was not slower compared to the Ds. Of course the D balls do not have the backspin of the S or Nike balls.
The spin is what I likes about the S & Nike. The Nike had a slower meter speed where the S was true to the club for meter speed.
I have found the it is really important to have that slower meter speed on the green for putting.
I rarely position the shooting point to offset green resistance. I do this only if the green is really going fast because of high slopes or mounds on the green. I just stop the meter where I think I need to stop it to make a putt. So, the ball making the the meter slower is key for me.
I took in a putting tutorial long after I started playing. I use a Rosa putter and just got used to stopping the meter where I think I need to when figuring out the resistance of the speed of the lines going left or right.. I think this is the best way but the tutorial says otherwise. Nobody is right or wrong, it is just if you can make some birdies or the occasional eagle that matters most.
This D ball, for the price of credits, is the only ball that I want to use now. If I get the Ping G-20s, it will not make that much of a difference ....maybe..... I still will use the Rosa putter. I do OK with the Ping G-10s that I have.
If anyone can tell me that other irons will give better spin with the same meter speed, I will listen and rent them.
I have read the the G-20s are quirky. Who knows? I have to try them to agree or disagree.
I hope this post helps others to get the 64 credit ball that I am liking a lot. It is all about making under par and you can do it with this ball without breaking the bank while trying to have fun.
Also, I just can't get myself to fork over 450 credits every other day. That is nuts. If you enjoy playing, use these D balls.
