So I just bought 5k credits.  With the 150 I have from making pro tier, I can by some new equipment.  Thinking about buying the Rapture Full Set for 3100 credits but don't know if that is a good investment of my money.  Perhaps buying things singularly a bit at a time is better?  What clubs should I really try to upgrade first?  The full set option is attractive to me because it's simple; I don't have to think about it a lot and they are, obviously, a quantum improvement over my starter set.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Yes, the Rapture V2 Pro Full Set is definitely a great upgrade choice, unless you believe you can soon make it to the Master tier without any upgrades. This will cost you $32.26, but the set isn't as full as the name would suggest. You also need a putter, and I'd recommend the Daytona putter ($7.50). You also need wedges, and I'd recommend the TaylorMade trio of 56°60° + 64° ($6.50). That gives you the grand total of $46.26, and the rest you can spend on GI-SD balls.

With these purchases, you should be able to improve your average score dramatically, so that the Master tier will no longer be very far from you.

If you prefer piecemeal upgrades, then buy a driver and a putter first (I'd recommend the Rapture V2 Pro driver & the Daytona).

(Note: "new clubs" are announced for the March product update, if there indeed will be a March product update. Perhaps it's worth postponing any equipment purchases for a few days.)

Raptures for the win.  You will adore them.  Get everything......The 9.5 Driver (255), The Pro Iron set, The 3W, and the Daytona.  I would also do as Faterson has suggested and drop the Hybrid for an additional wedge.  The 64 degree Wedge is a must.  The only problem with the Raptures is they will excel your game so quickly that you will be a Master in a very short time.  Then you have to upgrade again, and will sorely miss the cushy forgiveness of the Raptures.

    Good Luck!

Yes... But MrOtto might as well buy the full set, because due to the discount given, he will basically get the Hybrid club (normally $3.75) for free, even though he will have little use for it later on.

Definitely! Might be the 3rd most important club to upgrade, after the driver and putter.

Im sorry but i think its bulls**t that you dont start out with credits, you have no way to play well on some courses, and when you play multiplayer with people outdriving you by 50 yards. i think its stupid. we should get credits to start with. it makes no sense that you have to have money to get better clubs, unless you wanna fork out money to pay for this ***. and im sorry but spending your money on this is why you go broke.

You pay for quality in real life, why shouldn't you pay for quality in this game, too? It's supposed to be realistic. If you're happy with mediocre play, then you can play this game forever for free.

(That being said, I've been defeated many a time by players who were using the free basic equipment, while I was wielding my upgraded gear. Talk about embarrassing!)

If spending 50 bucks on this game is going to cause you to "go broke", perhaps the last thing you should be doing is playing a game on your computer.

I cannot understand the entitlement mentality of many users here.  They want top notch service, top notch equipment, and a top notch experience, and they want it for free.  Must be my age or something, but I believe paying for entertainment is the norm.  Not expecting everything for free.

Thanks a lot for all the advice.  I really appreciate it.

I don't mind paying for something I enjoy, nor should anyone.  There are many things I enjoy that are free and if I was content to stay at the level I am, I could just keep playing with the starter set.  By7 that token, I would still be playing golf in real life with the crappy set of Northwesterns I started out with years ago.

Again, thanks for the advice from all, and I'll see you on the links.

You're in the wrong game.  The other golf game gives you money to start and allows you to compete with everyone else as long as you have their money to spend.  Great cartoon game with ppl shooting -36 at Wolf Creek... it's free too, so you'd really really like it..

However, this game is billing itself realistic.  And, just like in real life, you get what you pay for.  If you want to be really good it's going to cost you.. if you can accept mediocrity, it won't.

And yes, it makes perfect sense.  Unless you're, as GC said, of the 'entitlement generation'.  (Back in my youth we didn't call it "Entitlement".. we called it "Socialism")

    Have a nice day.

hahah realistic. pretty sure tiger woods would beat everyone with wooden clubs, so how is this game trying to be realistic when people who spend the most money are going to be better than someone who doesnt, even if they are less skilled. oh yea and companies like ping and taylormade pay money for advertisement of the there clubs so wgt is getting paid by the user and advertisers, yea that seems fairs, oh well tw2010 comes out soon, 50 dollars gets you a lot farther in that game... not one set of clubs and some balls. Guess im socialist... ur an idiot the people complaining are part of the internet generation that understands advertising...
