    Hooray for Pete

Congrats on your 3 Double Eagles

So you're not on the list WHOOP DI DOO.

It's a list . Do you want a trophy too?  Then save the pic and photo shop your name on it.  You've got the recognition in your stats, the memory of the accomplishment and witnesses for 2 of them.  Enjoy what you have and stop whining like a 4 year old.

Great Shooting and Happy Albatross Hunting to all.

Dude you don't understand, you tell your friends to come put it on the list  but then tell me i'm whinning  you must be joking, DUDE I'M NOT EVEN ON THE LIST or do you not get the picture. I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALMOST 6 MONTHS FOR A REPLY.

Well, as a Legend, it wasn't from my tees, I suppose.  It was in a CC tourney today, front 9 at SA #9.  294 yards, 12 MPH headwind at 7 oclock.  But it is my first Double Eagle, my first HiO, and my first Albatross in any format.

As an added bonus, it vaulted me to first in the CC tourney with a 28.

Finally!   Got the elusive albatross on #2 Kiawah.   About time!

Actually, it is my understanding that there is a difference between a double eagle and an Albatross.  What you got was indeed a double eagle -3 on a hole.  However, as I understand it, an Albatross is only a HiO on a par 4.  So you have hole-in-one, double eagle, and when you combine both, Albatross.

I finally managed it yesterday, Oakmont #17.   Was an amazing feeling as it rolled closer and closer and I was thinking wow, it's going to be close, very close, whoooopeeeee!!

As far as I can tell the term double eagle and albatros both describe exactly the same thing, a 3 under par hole.  Some people call it one, some the other.

That was always my perception also, there needs to be a distinction between a HIO on a par 4 and a second shot hole out on a par 5 IMHO! > Thus Albatross vs Double Eagle.

I agree with Mainz that in fact there is no distinction: albatross and double eagle both simply mean -3 on a hole. Whether a distinction is needed is a separate question - a highly theoretical one in my case, anyway.

By the same token, scorewise a hole-in-one on a par 3 is "just" an eagle, although in practice no one would call it that.

I didn't know you could post links like this but i thought I would share this one.

My first (and only, so far) DOUBLE EAGLE. What a wonderful feeling when you do it.

    Hole #5 St. Andi's, 6th October 2011.
