Cleveland 60 degree Wedge Question

  I have the 52, 56, 64. (74+ to 80+) I was looking at some legends clubs yesterday and everyone seem to carry the 56, 60, 64 instead. I'm trying to see what the advantage of carry the 60 degree 80 yard wedge might be? thanks

  Here are my distances

  52 - 115

  56 - 100

  56 punch - 84

  64 - 60

  64 punch - 50

  I would assume the difference to be a mathematical one . You get more air with the higher degrees thus being able to get more spin on the ball coming out of the tall stuff. It will help to leave those pitch/chip shots closer to the hole. Good Luck.

  When it was sent to me, and I can attest, the high level CG60yard club is just plain stupid, stops down hill, can spin back with top spin, get you out of trouble in a hurry.

  That said, don't sell the upper level  pings short, crazy clubs too!

  I bought the CG 64  (aka 60 yard club) a few weeks back and I can attest to everything you are saying.. If you use full bs with this club it can easily spin back 30 feet or more (even on shots hit with 75% of power)

  In my opinion, it's kind of an unrealistic club...No touring pro could ever spin the ball so much with any wedge..

  That said, I am still getting used to playing with it, but it is AWESOME around the greens, especially with difficult pitch shots, and from the rough...

  After a few comments so far I need to clarify.

  The 60 degree club goes 80 yards

  The 64 degree club goes 60 yards.

   

  I already have the 64 degree club that some of you are talking about. I am referring to the 60 degree club. I don't carrry it but a lot of others do. 

  I'm trying to find out what are the advantages of carrying it.

  I can see why you choose the wedges you already have - with the Burner irons, you need them. When I had those, I carried 4 wedges and no 3 wood for a while, to cover the 'gap' between the Burner PW and and the CG 56 degree, 100 yard club. If you choose G20's (level 83) or later the R11 irons, that gap will be eliminated; in fact with the G20's I dropped the 56 and carried the hybrid, as the G20 PW eliminated the need. Now, with R11's, I carrry the 56, 60, 64, as do most players with R11 irons, plus a 3 wood. 

  As for the 60 degree, it is just a farther hitting version of the 60, both being lifesavers under the right conditions. With Nike balls, full shots to 85 yards, punches to 68-70, pitches 25 (full bs) and chips to 10-11 yards (full bs). It is a very useful club!

  It punches 68, which fills a nice blank for you, but what really makes it a killer club is the pitch at 25 yards and the chip at 11. Both those shots with full backspin are hugely controllable and very accurate.

  *edit- after looking at your setup I would seriously drop the 3W and go with all the CGs. Masters and TMs can survive quite nicely with 4 wedges-I did it for 2 years. With 5 shots each and a 3i that goes 220, you have 20 different yardages under 120 covered with those 4 clubs.

  Excellent info. Thank you for taking the time to respond everyone. I have been having several shots that are a little over my 60 yard wedge recently. I have been using the 56 degree to punch (84 yard club) to compensate. It has worked out well but I just might add a 4th wedge like you guys suggested.
