Getting sick and tired of being sick and tired of the swing meter. I know the broke record is playing again, but right now , Im venting. Its absolutely pathetic that this crap that everyone calls VEM and I call cheating is a part of this game. Golf is a game of HONESTY. Yeah I know about the making money crap, but this is no excuse. For as pretty as the courses are, and as great as the game is , dont tell me the swing meter cant be fixed. So W.G.T. second hand smoke kills, quit blowing smoke up our a$$ and fix the meter. Done venting. Seeeeeeeee Yaaaaaaa.

There is an old saying that goes......  the older I get the smarter my parents get. It applies here too as you continue to move up it seems your meter problems are far less IMO

WGT is running off of Adobe Flash. Flash is not meant to run resource-intensive programs/games. WGT is [fairly, but relatively weakly] resource-intensive.

That's why, ocassionally, you'll see the meter stutter and skip a few inches off the screen. It's not your computers problem... Your computer has no trouble at all running Flash, it's Flash's problem. Flash was designed to run programs and games at a very low fps, and it does so. The harder it is to run a game, the more problems that will arise with Flash (WGT uses high quality screenshots, runs at a huge resolution, many processes taking place, etc.).

If you capture video footage of the meter and slow it down, you'll see that the meter skips a few pixels instead of covering each one. This further proves my point that this is Flash's problem, not yours or WGTs.

Until WGT is running off of Microsoft Silverlight, you'll see no issues resolved. This isn't WGTs fault. They programmed the meter flawlessly.

Also, this is thread #85,031 having to do with the meter. Quit your bitchin'.

I agree with TLD, its not our computer's problem.  I hadn't heard before that Flash was designed to run at a very low frames per second.  Interesting!  Any idea how many fps WGT uses to run the game?

Question about adobe flash from a non-computer guy:

What affect does "flash quality" in "options" (or "game settings", depending on where you access this menu from) have? It says may "slow down the animations" but not exactly sure what that means. Also it says that turning off "reflectons" (water effects) can increase processor speed.

I have a decent but low-end video card, and on the newish, video intensive computer games (e.g., Dragon Age) I select Medium quality graphics because I don't care about having the last word in graphics. Ok,I know that has nothing to do with adobe flash, I'm just using it as an example. But  toning down the graphics quality you get smoother play, less crashes if you don't have a higher-end video card. Does this reasoning apply to Adobe flash and your selections in "options" ("game settings")??

That's what I'm thinking too G.  Way too many frames per second is a waste of processing power as my LCD display doesn't do more than 60 fps.

Here's a brief description of how fps affect video game performance.

"Many games lock their frame rate at lower but more sustainable levels to give consistently smooth motion." <- from the above web page.

I'm not sure about the coding inside of WGT, but because of Adobe Flash you're going to experience NO MORE than 25, and by the looks of things it appears to be more like 15-20.

Get rid of resource robbing programs and software. You can't have iTunes and Limewire (examples) downloaded while trying to play this game. Its all about reducing background programs and software that only eat-up RAM which flash is fed on. Optimizing Windows will help considerably as well.

I know we shouldn't have to do these thing to play this game, but it's a fact to have a smooth meter.

Now you can attack me if it will make you feel better.

The above has been mentioned multiple times in the forums, including from WGTniv. It works for me fantastically, and yes it might not work for everyone equally, but it's a good start to try and find meter solace.
