Shot shaping and your method(s)

    I'm wondering how other folks here shape their approach shots.....Meanining hitting into a crosswind are you using the aiming arrow to adjust the ball path or are you "missing the line" to hook or slice into or out of the wind.

    I find myself intentionally missing the line to the opposite of the wind direction as opposed to using the aiming arrow to adjust the ball flight direction. I think the reason may be that I can't accurately hit the swing line on a consistent basis therefore I deliberately miss to the favourable side.

    Any comments or suggestions good bad or otherwise?

    Well your approach is best, if you cannot hit the ding, then play in the wind.  This approach will keep you where ya want to much better than missing with the wind

    I agree.  Also depending on balls used and spin employed missing the ding slightly to fade/draw the ball into the wind, will take a few yards of a shot depending on speed of wind.

     

    Quite handy when you've got a shot with a cross-wind where the yardage is between clubs; take the longer club and miss the ding by a little more on the side you want.

    Thanks for the responses guys. Seems like I'm on the right track but as I'm aware my game needs more work.

    i saw Icon mentioned a shot shaping function that wgt is busy testing, but it's not ready to be implemented yet (can't recall which thread) .. wonder how that will work .. would be great if you could put a ball around a doglegg when wind is blowing opposite to the direction of doglegg .. Olympic comes to mind .. you can't just hit the shot to the right of the ding cause u'll catch the trees .. maybe they'll intro diffirent stance positions or club grip options ?

    It shouldn't be to hard to figure out for them. MSLinks golf has had real life golf  features for many years utilizing their meter for inside/outside swings creating fades and draws, placing the ball within the stance forward to back for various trajectories and also the balls lie from uphill or downhill in stance affecting ball flight as it would in real life golf.

    Their swing meter had nothing to do with it. The clubface and stance adjustments did it. Coupled with the lie factor, which you got to see, you still had to hit the prefect swing to get the right result.

    are you saying that we can adjust the player for stance? how is that done, am i missing something?

    That only held true if you used the basic swing modes. I played the game for many years and starting with MS links 1999 or 2001 edition with the addition of the Power Stroke meter, which most people switched to, it certainly had something to do with it. You could swing inside out for a drawing or outside in for fading, along with the  various stance adjustments and being able to open or close the face of the club for shot adjustment. 

    But here again the purpose of my post was to mention that it could be programmed into this game if they so choosed, not debate all of the features of another game that did/does have that capability.
