For me, one of the most attractive aspects of WGT is that it feels like golf, and it gives me the experience of playing some of the greatest courses on Earth.
Now that I've been here for 6 weeks, I realize that I'm on the verge of losing that realism. My scores are getting lower and lower, and some of my stats are getting into, well, video game territory:
- I hit 69 of 70 fairways in my last 5 rounds in the Myrtle Beach Open. (PGA's best is ~71%.)
- My proximity to the hole is usually in the 15-20 foot range (PGA's best is ~32 ft.)
I think my ideal game setup will allow me to have stats (driving distance & accuracy, GIR, proximity to hole, scramble/sand percentage, putting, etc.) and scoring that are good but realistic for PGA pros. I'd like to basically be able to play along with the guys on TV each week and post similar scores and stats to the guys on the first couple pages of the leaderboards.
Is anyone out there in the WGT community intentionally dialing in their equipment combinations to play the game this way? Can you share your thoughts and experiences?
Thanks,
Maboonkrang
P.S. I may, at some point in the future, decide to dive in and just go for the lowest scores possible by getting all the best equipment, but I want to find and enjoy this realistic sweet spot before I do that.
