I was debating whether to upgrade my putter (Anser) or my driver (Tour Burner).  I may be reaching the Master tier soon and I have heard that I will need a longer driver (possibly G20).  However, to get to the next tier, I may need a better putter (Daytona Rossa).  Please give me advice, thanks.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way, bp. When you get new clubs you're not buying strokes or making the game necessarily easier. You have really good equipment for where you're at right now AND for the next tier. What's going to make a difference is how you're playing with them. It seems you have trouble saving par from traps and rough. This obviously means you spend too much time there.

Stay with your driver and hit it to the spots where you can use those good wedges. You don't have to bomb drives to get in a good position. Play to what you have. Give yourself a good chance with the second shot. A wedge from the fairway is a lot easier to get close then trying to scramble out of a mess you created by trying to smoke the drive.

Manage your courses like this and not only will you get a lot more out of what you have, you'll be leveling up to where you can get even better stuff. :-)

    Great advise Jim.

Don't worry about what other people have in there bag, even though it helps to have better clubs....  Use the clubs in your bag to your advantage. The more games you play with them the better you will get. I must admit though at some stage you will have to upgrade, well not have to, but maybe upgrade to a better set of clubs.

The Rossa is the first putter I got... many moons ago.. I think it's great.

Which also backs up Jim's statement.....   The Rossa is not classed as the best putter on Wgt, but I've learned how to use it.

    Good Luck

       Roger

Well, I think the problem with my driver is the forgiveness/precision balance.  Maybe I just can't get used to the meter (highly likely) and the GI-SD ball I received on St Paddy's Day didn't really help anything.  Also, I used to have the WGT Pro Iron Set (which is awful, don't buy it) so my approach shots used to roll off the green or were waayyy off target. Hence, my GIR is very low compared to other Tour Pros.

However, I am very comfortable with my wedges, irons and 3 wood so thanks for your advice.  BTW, if I was to choose a more fitting driver to my love of slow meters, which would you reccommend (yes, I did get your message of sticking with my clubs but my driver irks me)?

    Thanks, Bpierce

The G20 will suit you fine.

What Piz said and the spider putter at level 66 will help you because of the slower meter.

Piz nailed it, that driver will make it much easier for you to hit the fairways. Stay as far away from the Spider putter as you can. I used that Anser from the day it came out until the Redwood (Anser's big brother) came out and you can do well with it until you get to the Redwood or Rossa levels. You might eyeball one of the Ghost's, too.

Once you get that driver, take a look at your scrambling and sand save stats. Those are where you're going to take the strokes off. The driver will get you to the wedges and, with a decent spin ball, you'll be able to get closer to the pin than your current 22 yard average. This makes the putting easier and your 1.80 putting average will drop too.

On those wedges btw, there's 5 different shots you can use with them-learn them now and you won't be sorry later. GL

Well, I never really need to use the punch shot because of where the ball lands but I use the pitch shot a lot because I am either on the green or far enough away that a chip won't work.  Still need to dial in the flop shot.  I almost want WGT to make a ball with lots of spin but no feel and distance because a) I am a cheapskate and I don't like to spend credits and b) adding feel just messes up my game as I mentioned earlier.

Thanks, for all the help everyone, Bpierce

The best shot in your bag is the punch with that 64W. 2nd best is the pitch with it.   ;-)

What you need is PRACTICE.... Stop trying to fly up the tiers and focus on practice for awhile. Use the starter balls, for practice and get you some better balls for ranked play. Do the surveys and videos for credits and take your time and practice. If you cant hit what you have , you won`t hit what you get. Rent your clubs before you buy, and practice practice, practice. Try a pack of Srixons (L11+) 180 credits, it`s what I play with ranked only , they hit pretty well and practice, practice, practice.... Seeeeeeeee Yaaaaaaaa
