I have been using decent balls to play (Nike, Callaway) and have noticed something I'd like to confirm. It seems that when a ball is getting near the end of its life the shots start to become unpredictable. An example would be hitting a perfectly straight shot in 3mph wind and having it go way off to one side or the other. I know how this happens with real balls since they get scuffed and cut and the surface worn out but I didn't expect to encounter that with these virtual balls. I would like to know if someone can confirm whether or not this is true.
Not true. Balls act the same on hit 1 and hit 100.
I have been wondering the same thing recently.
It seems like it has been going on for a couple weeks for me.
Hard to quantify, but the same errant shots have happened to me as well.

I haven't notice anything. But one reason comes to mind that we do not have the option to replace the ball at our option during game play.
There are errant shots from VEM or whatnots, but IMO they have nothing to do with ball wear. Had one w/ a new Nike today...
I agree, Infinito, if there was wear we should have the option to replace the ball.
Some of my best rounds have been with a ball near the end of it's life.
Your probably experiencing some WGT voodoo, it normally goes away after a few weeks!!
But it always returns ;-))
My guess is the margin of error is most likely due to the clubs you have in your bag.Precision or lack thereof is most likely the culprit; and human error
TheLighterDark: Not true. Balls act the same on hit 1 and hit 100.
It's your stroke that's different on hit 1 vs. 100.
lol .. lmao at this thread .. srry, mind's in the gutter
