There are tournaments for hacks and amatuers, though you may be surprised by how low you have to score to compete. Unfortunately, these tournaments are usually the domain of the multi account holder, who unable to compete at the highest level of the game, decides to start a new account, stock up with level boosters, then gets all the top gear before hitting the tournament trail.  OK, it's not long before they progress up to the pro and tour pro tiers, but there is another multi account holder waiting to take his place.

My advice, would be to find a good country club, that does tier based and handicapped tournaments and compete there. If you check out the country club thread in the forums there are plenty that would make you welcome.

Enjoy your time here, there are a few bad eggs, but on the whole, the WGT community are very nice people.

    hyperliite:

    In addition to Steve's words:

All (or at least most of) the weekly and monthly tourneys are played and charted by tier. That is, ev1 may enter but they compete in their tier only. Just click "more" and then "leaderboard" of those tourneys. You'll see the different tier leaderboards.

Note that a player can play the tourney (if multiple play is allowed) in the same tier even if he advances during it's duration. I.e. a Hack entering in the beginning of a month may be Master at the end and still play this tournament in the Hack tier.

Try joining a country club that does tiered competitions.
