Unfortunately, this is the fairest way. Having a friend play in 1 before and knowing winds ahead would be much more unfair than now.

Actually, I just came up with a question on this - it's not until you sign up and are ready to tee-off that you find out what the wind conditions are. Now, that said, I don't think I've played an RG when the winds weren't heavy, but that might just be luck of the draw.
With that, isn't it about the same in that if I play an RG, I can then let a friend know in advance what the condition are so they can prepare and decide whether or not to enter?
