Interesting process for selecting the All-Stars

    HI Lisa

Based on when the Devs challenge was issued and the need to get the ball rolling, what would have been your suggestion to get 16 opponents?

I wasn't being negative-I have long been an advocate of "qualifiers" and challenging rosters for a spot on the team-the only flaw i see is that if I were ranking players (which I did all the scouting and ranking for the Hotties in Slor League)  is that in some cases you have two players in head to head elimination that may eliminate a # 2,3, or 4 ranked player in Match Play. But hey---I think you're doing a good job with this----good luck MB!

And besides Lou is a Genius at putting together great comps.

All your points are valid Lisa.

We agree that a "qualifier" is a good thing. If for no other reason than it (mostly) absolves us from having to make arbitrary decisions about who is better than whom.

I'm unfamiliar with the rankings you cited, but even if we used them to measure players ability, it would still be an imperfect science for many different reasons. (How do you measure heart? How do you measure improvement or decline? How do you measure confidence or will to win?)

In the end, we knew we would make mistakes, and we knew there would be unfortunate situations where two deserving players would face each other and only one would advance. That's why the team captain has 4 picks at the end of the qualifier.

It's not a perfect system, but at the end of the day, I think we did it as fairly and as impartially as we were able to.

I'm glad to see you're following the invitational and I hope you'll support your CC and the whole WGT All Star team against the Deviants Deviations, :)

You're absolutely right. It's kind of the ole saying, "on any given day". Look as I said you're doing a good job. and its very difficult to come up with 16 "All-Stars" when there are probably 116+ on WGT---Devs is probably the only club that could pull something like this off---they have some of the very Best Players on WGT. I sent a note to MB explaining why I posted the comment.  I totally favor some kind of qualifier, or challenge to earn a spot on a roster like you're putting together. So good luck to the All-Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I just read it

    Thanks Lisa

I think in the future a large qualifier (given enough time and interest) would be the way to go.

There's so many good players here, many more deserved a shot to challenge.

Thrilling and fun match with Stevenharkin just in. Stevey wins 1up on the 2nd extra hole.

Not a favorite course for either of us. I got hot early and was 10 up thru 10 including a couple of eagles. Stevey had some cruel lipouts and bad luck along the way. Then he came charging furiously back birdieing all but one of the last 8 including a 17 foot above the hole snake on 18 to get is to AS. This time it was I that had the cruel luck. Happened again on the final 2nd hole where he hit a 20 footer from above the hole, and i lipped out a 6 foot side hill putt to lose.

Great match. Great tourney. Look forward to rooting the all-stars on to victory against the devs. Bummed I won't be there to help.

    Cheers!
