Lisa03:
I wasn't being negative-I have long been an advocate of "qualifiers" and challenging rosters for a spot on the team-the only flaw i see is that if I were ranking players (which I did all the scouting and ranking for the Hotties in Slor League) is that in some cases you have two players in head to head elimination that may eliminate a # 2,3, or 4 ranked player in Match Play. But hey---I think you're doing a good job with this----good luck MB!
And besides Lou is a Genius at putting together great comps.
All your points are valid Lisa.
We agree that a "qualifier" is a good thing. If for no other reason than it (mostly) absolves us from having to make arbitrary decisions about who is better than whom.
I'm unfamiliar with the rankings you cited, but even if we used them to measure players ability, it would still be an imperfect science for many different reasons. (How do you measure heart? How do you measure improvement or decline? How do you measure confidence or will to win?)
In the end, we knew we would make mistakes, and we knew there would be unfortunate situations where two deserving players would face each other and only one would advance. That's why the team captain has 4 picks at the end of the qualifier.
It's not a perfect system, but at the end of the day, I think we did it as fairly and as impartially as we were able to.
I'm glad to see you're following the invitational and I hope you'll support your CC and the whole WGT All Star team against the Deviants Deviations, :)
