So I got off to a horrendous start and was too tight spraying the ball all over in the opening round making the turn with an UGLY  +1

Took a break, went to Gym and came back to fire off a great back 9!! Sometimes getting up and walking away for an hour helps!!!! 64 isn't the greatest score but still respectable  for me and especially after the way it started.

I had no weird Deviations during my round and 17 was a 33 ft putt 10 down and stupid me got overly aggressive with it.

GREAT COURSE WGT!!!!  I may get my hiney spanked  but I'm loving the opportunity!!

Know what you went through Di; -1 thru the F9 and then managed to reel off seven birdies on the B9. Couldn't hit a barn door for the first 9 and everything just then clicked into gear. Frustrating round for certain but I expect there'll be a lot of people saying the same thing ;)

Nice back Jim, I see you are in the clubhouse only 1 off lead right now.  Let's meet up in the clubhouse for a drink ;-P!~~  Bring your wallet as we certainly  have loads of horrible shots that need to be drowned from my memory LOLOLOL

    Hey fellas,

I had absolutely different nines as you Jim and Dianne..I was with 7 birdies and 1 bogey (hit the tree.....) on great -6 after front 9 but I exploded on back 9 where I played 2 birdies and 3 bogeys...

Looking forward to 2nd round ;)

Cheers Di; yeah it was a decent effort once I'd calmed down mentally from the battering I'd taken for the first nine holes. Too far off the mark to stand a chance of the win but hopefully can put up a decent score in R2 to get in the top 10.

It's noticeable that lots of players have struggled on the F9 so far just as the guys did in the US Open over the weekend. The biggest issue is a mental one when playing a tourney like this as you build it up in your head that you have to start off well. As soon as you don't get off positively, just as in RL, you mentally start pressurizing yourself to hit perfect shots and it's only until you relax into your normal game, do you start hitting good, quality shots.

There's a 56-57 out there for someone who plays smart shots throughout and gets on the right side of each pin. 58-59 was needed to be competitive unfortunately.

I bet Tiger would have sold his soul for that +1 on the front yesterday. :-D

Will you be doing like last year, keeping the masses updated? That was good.

I wish MR WGT would blog from the side lines of this Tourney. ;-)

Love hearing about the rounds from the players. Good luck to all of you. Making the cut was something special in itself.

I will do another blog after first round is over with an update and highlights.  Last year I just did it for forums and was surprised to see it posted in the July 21 2011 WGT NEWS feed!!! lol ( spell check will be used this time) http://www.wgt.com/golfnews/Default.aspx?PageIndex=13

Thank you so much for all the hard work you and your staff put in to bring us this venue. It is an outstanding course and an incredibly addicting/exciting game.
