    marioh:
This idea is to stop sandbagging for credits.  This applies to Net credits earned, so that would be net credits earned through free tourny winnings, match play challenges, and RG's.

There is such a very wide discrepancy between the payouts of free vs RGs and between the frequency of free vs RGs tournaments.  You will end up making it impossible for those who can't participate in RGs/MCs to move up in tier.  Someone who doesn't play tournaments at all is out of luck.  Stuck forever in the Pro tier. (wait...doesn't sound too bad, LOL)

A RG winner wins 5.50 and nets 4.50.  You can play how many per day?  3 or 4?

A free tournament winner nets 1.50 - 1.80 and can play  3 per week

A free multi-round winner nets 3.15 and can play 1 per week.

Theoretically now, to show the wide gap, if one wins all of the 4 RGs entered each day, net weekly winnings is $126.  If one wins all the free tournaments in a week net earnings is: $8.55

The more I think about it the less I like the idea of including earnings.  Base it on what scores you shoot, not how much you earn.  If you're shooting low enough scores, a good system should take care of it.

AvatarLee presents a workable start on a good system, IMO, in this thread

Tanks YJ, after all thats how they do it in real life.. I think you can still keep the other tiers for stuff like getting master level clubs and for da gamers . Then lets see if they can really make the grade when it counts.

I meant that to be used as an automatic promotion to the Master tier in order to deter sandbagging for credits.

The regular tier progression would remain.

Yes, I realize that the RG winnings will be larger than the free tournys.   But this is really meant to deter people who keep their averages artificially high in order to win credits either thru RG's or thru MPC.

Because let's face it.   Sandbagging is really only an issue when it's used to manipulate the system (and others) for the sole purpose of acquiring credits.

Gee, listen to all you people! You'd think you came up with the idea! Rusty is the only one who, so far, has a good Idea. Follow the USGA rules, DUHHHHH!!! I'm not even gonna go into how long I've been saying this system needs more tiers. And WGT needs 2 more extra tiers not one. "Cause if you do it now it won't have to be redone later. I don't even care what they call 'em! Just do it right! Ball is in your court WGT.

Extra tier needed alright. IMHO The tier should only determine what tee you play off. A handicap should determine your score. As has been suggested USGA or CONGU provide the basis for workable solutions. Basing your tier on earnings is flawed for reasons already pointed out, namely players residing in non-RG areas. There should be no handicap increases for playing in non-paying 'ranked rounds' or there will be those who will sandbag Simple really, You play a RG - you shoot 31 CSS for that particular RG is 34. If you are on the 'elite' level you get cut 0.3 - master level cut 0.6 - Pro 0.9 and so on. 'Real' handicaps will give the game a more authentic feel. And just for the record I think the top tier should be called Tour. Now that would be something to aspire to.

HAHAHAHA !!! Ya Ya a handicap system.

Let's penalize the players who have really worked to figure this game out.

HAHAHAHA !! Let's tell Phil Mickelson he didn't win the Masters because he was playing a -3 hdcp., but K.J. Choi was a +3 so he 'really' won. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! y'all are funny.

edit: 1 aye for an upper tier

so whats your solution, since you think it's so darn funny.and since your so damn smart, why don't you tell Mr. Mickelson that. And maybe WGT ought to look closer at how the hell you're shooting such low scores smartass!!!

I agree. Let's tell him the truth...Tiger lost it. As far as hdcp works, scratch is zero, 3 hdcp is not as good as scratch. A scratch golfer will starve to death in any level of professional play for money. Most productive professional money players do so with hdcp's around +3 to +5. Fact of life.

Thanks for clarifying it marioh.  I'm good with that.

You do know a feature called "handicap system" is on the WGT Roadmap Features list?

    Resov,

Only one very huge problem with your arguement, those guys you speak of are all pga tour pros.  Yes some are better than others, but they are the best of the best in the world.  The current WGT system is the equivelent of anyone of us being invited to the masters and standing on the first tee with Tiger and Phil, then realizing the only advantage we get is   to tee off from 20 yards closer to the hole. ( oh and by the way, you get clubs that go 50 yards less).  If we continue to give pro's and amatuers no chance to compete, then you are thinning out the field of people willing to invest in the tourney and game.  A handicap system will level the playing field, but for the really good players they will still win their fair share.
