One thing that I have noticed since the major changeover is that the default club that the system selects for you, does not seem to be working as intended.

Before it would always default you to 1 club longer if you were within -5 yards of a rated club, which was fine.  But now it seems the selection for anything from 53 yards to 85 yards will default you to the P Wdg (90 yards).  Not a big problem because I usually check the selection anyways, but still annoying...

Where the real problem seems to lie is with the change in how the fringe interacts with putts now.  Before if you were on the fringe you would need to add anywhere from 30-50% of the yardage on to the putt, this usually put you over the 30 foot scale and it would select the 60 foot putter for you.  Now the fringe seems to have a LOT less affect on the putt, but it will still default to the 60 foot putter whenever you are on it, no matter how short the putt!!  There have been more than a couple of times that I have taken for granted the putter selection here (shame on me I guess) and hit a shot well past the cup, and had almost the same distance coming back!

This also bring back to light the ability to select the scale of the putter... The impossible putt still exists (#5, 25 foot putt, 5 inches up) and now it is even worse because most if not all recovery options have been taken away from us!  And the greens are playing slower too!

I know the putter scale has been touched upon on many different posts in the past, but I feel that it is a very important playability issue that you guys need to address soon!

Here's hoping that I've bumped it up the priority list a bit.

Oh, and keep up the great work!

Not meaning to be as smart alecky as this is going to sound.  So, I will apologize ahead of time.

But, do you have a club pop up into your hand on the course, no matter the lie?  Or, do you have to select it out of your bag?

A major part of the game is judging all of the conditions and lie and then choosing a blade.

I do not, for one, care what default club is chosen.

Great game and appreciate all of the work WGT.

    God Bless all,

    TP

I have had the same problem on #5 more than a couple of times. I would just break out the flop and it would not be an issue. However, it seems as if you have taken the ability to flop on the green away from us. Why did you take away a legal golf shot? Sure the greens keepers do not like it, but we do not have greens keepers (lol) and it is a legal.

I had hit the ball on #5 right at the edge of the fringe on the far top side of the green and did not have decent angle at the hole and tried to flop and it would not let me.

Thank you and great up-grade. Love the Ping driver.

    Hey TP,

I totally agree with you, out on the course.  But this is still a video game (in beta) and I was merely pointing out the fact that they make a default selection for you, and it is wrong... What is the point in making any selection in the first place?  If this were the course and I had a caddie that always gave me too much club I'd probably send him packing! =)

And like I said before the real problem lies in the putter selection that they give you, and you in fact do not have any other options.

    Thanks for hearing me out,

    Lee

TP, clubs magically pop-up in my hand when my caddy is with me. :)

But seriously though, I've always considered the game to have a digital caddy.  Just like on a real course, if I'm 129 yards out I expect my caddy to hand me 9I (135), not an 8I (155).

We fell into that comfort zone before because you just knew your digital caddy was going to give you the right club for the shot.  It was reliable to the point where looking at your club to verify the selection turned into 2 seconds of your life you'd never get back.

Now he's half in the bag before the 2nd tee and giving us the wrong club quite a bit. :)

It has gotten much worse in recent weeks, happening several times per match/game

Pet peeve of mine too, esp on the green. I use the Max Master putter it has increments of 10, 20, 30, 40, 60 and higher.

9ft from the hole, 90% of the time the crack smoking SOB caddy gives me the 20ft increment putter, now I'm on legend tourney greens so if that shot is say 2inches downhill I'm going to be aiming approx 6ft (yes I know there are variables), so sometimes I'm so busy thinking 6ft I don't even dream to think Crack Caddy will give me a damn 20ft putter.

Yes I know it's 100% my responsibility, but I would DEARLY love to sack the SOB and do without a caddy as tbh he / she is a liability!

It's not so much putter scales that catch me but wedges. If I'm 48 yards from the pin I don't expect to be offered a 100 yard wedge when I have a 75 and a 50. Hole 3 on Bethpage has more silliness, I've lost count of the number of balls I've lost because it gives me a 282 yard club when I have a 240 three wood.
