When I look at a RG leader board, there are usually a dozen or so "WD"s at the bottom.   Are these players who have actually started playing but then withdrew?  Maybe after a triple bogey or something?

Probably when they knew if they continued and posted a score, they'ed not even be in the money.

i/e say a front 9 at SA with low wind and I'm on 8 at 2 over....if I go birdy birdy and shoot a 36, I'll be out of the money anyway...no point in continuing and wasting ball hits.

^This. Some people play the average game also. Not worth lowering your average to not win a RG or place highly.

I understand not wasting shots on high end golf balls but the lowering,  or raising actually of average makes not a lot of sense. So what if our average goes up 1 /10 of a point?  I've yet to hear what some are protecting their average from?

Thinking about raising makes no sense, agreed.

Alas, those who wanna stay in their tier as long as possible might not want to post a good score unless the chance to win sufficient credits.

Wasn't there a term for those, maybe beginning with "S"?
