    19 ft - 10(for downhill) +3(for the fringe) = 12 x .8(for very fast greens) = 9.6 ft of power

No wonder I stink the course up. One needs to be short of an actuary to calculate a shot. So much for grip and rip. Well, as long as were having fun. lol  Great illustration Andy.

Are all the great players at WGT, great at math, or calculus as well?

    Doubtful Richard.

The great players on this game are good with experience.

I'm stellar with calculus and math and all things physics.

It's not rocket science. It's WGT. lol

I have a solid base in calculus and physics from my education (oh so many years ago) I think it does help, but is not a necessity.  Experience and the ability to draw from it are, by far, the most important!

I must respectfully disagree Lee.  An understanding of Newton's Laws of Motion only adds to my confusion.  Why, if Sir Isaac had seen the apple fall from a tree using this game at BPB , it would not have fallen perpendicularly, but would have landed 15 yds to the right due to a 3mph left to right breeze.  He would have surmised the earth's center of gravity was somewhere near Philadelphia! =P

That would make up for Cliff Lee being nowhere near Philadelphia at present.

My entire game revolves around math and experience.

The math is mostly used for putting, to determine how much power to hit the putt, and in figuring out where on the swing meter is equivalent to the power needed for the putt.

    That's no joke.

    ---------------------------------

I've tried calculating putts like Marioh shared with me, and even trying the former nivlac putting system and I just went from the frying pan into the fire. I need to come-up with some kind of fix. I make great approach shots, often sticking it close. Believe it or not, my putting has gotten so bad, I'm missing easy 2' to 6' putts with even the slightest break, especially on St. Andrews. I'm going to ditch my iWi Anser putter, and try the Daytona putter if or when I get the dough.
