Besides, it kind of gives the honored position of "Master" or even "Legend" a rather tarnished image, no?

Did a search and came with this.

I hit a regular wedge no punch no backspin, but it is twice the distance to go

the same yardage.  So if you are 15 yards away from the hole,

you need to hit a 30 yard wedge shot for it to go the 15 yards with a

    60* wedge.

    How so?

Do you play golf on a real course?

Sure, why do you ask?  Real golf and virtual golf are two different animals.  There are shots available to me in real golf that aren't available in virtual golf, and vice/versa.

Teewilly, here are a couple of examples:

At the real St. Andrews it's common to putt the ball from the fairway for certain approaches...can't do that here.

On a real course when you find your ball on the fringe but nestled up against the second cut, it's common to "belly" a wedge instead of putting, or use a driver or fairway wood with a putting stroke...can't do that here.

On this virtual course, the higher level Cleveland 64° wedge with backspin can suck back 20 yds or more...can't do that on a real course (at least I can't).

On this virtual course, you can flop and even pitch out of sand...but you hardly (if ever) see those shots out of real sand.

I won't argue that point, as I concede it is likely just as you say.

My point is that this virtual format tends to take away some of the "reality" of a real course, and the issue I made earlier, along with what you have mentioned are just a few of them.

That said, I enjoy this online pasttime. It is more realistic than most anything else I have found either online or on a gaming system. Thanks for your input pardner.

IMO, a master or legend shouldn't have to "resort" to using a "wedge" on a putting surface unless it was a unique and momentous circumstance. You ever have to putt through a place on a green that someone has "hacked" up?

The unique circumstance for me is when I know that I'm facing an almost certain 3-putt.  On certain greens in certain positions, like when you have to negotiate the hump on #5 at St. A to the back pin placement, if you hit the ball hard enough to get over the hump and the ball doesn't hit the hole, you're going to go past it a considerable distance.

And yes, I think we've all faced situations in real life where someone has failed to replace divots and repair ball marks...the lack of common courtesy is annoying to say the least.

Anyway, I thank you for your input as well and agree that this game is a joy to play.  Hit 'em long and putt like a demon!

He just wants to save his balls...

And really, who can blame him?

Well, I won't speak for anyone else, but I've always managed to have plenty of balls...
