My putter scales are 30, 60, 150 and 300 feet. Occasionaly, on a 10 or 15 foot putt, the 60, 150 or even 300 ft. scale pops up instead of the usual 30 ft. Why in the world does WGT pop up a scale like that on a short putt? I have missed it a few times, much to my dismay.

    Thanks!

WGT has a perverted notion that providing a virtual caddy who gives inconsistent and bad advice somehow enhances this game.

Maybe your on the fringe..>>Milfshake said it best...if you are on the fringe...or even near the fringe (or within a certain distance of the fringe...and I don't know what that distance is!!) You will more likely receive the larger putting distance...even though you may ber only 10 feet away it will go to the next larger increment which in your putter scale case would be to 60 feet scale !!! I've noticed that on my putter scale (15...30...45...90...150 & 300) but if I am 8 feet away from the hole but (not on the fringe) but within a few inches of the fringe instead of getting the 15 foot scale...I will get the next increment up which in my case is the 30foot scale !!! this is more prevalent  when the hole is also closer to the same side of the fringe as you are on or near !!!

Many of us and I do mean many use the higher scales for shorter putts. For a putt that needs to be hit with 30 foot power I will use the 300 foot meter and use 10 % power on putter pal. . Doing this lessens the chance that you will get a skip. The farther the meter has to move the more likely it is to skip And it makes it easier to ding because with the meter only moving a little bit you don't lose concentration as easily. Doing this also lessens the chance of the ball stopping short.  I use putter pal in conjunction with the avatar movement style of putting and my distance control is quite good. Practice this method, using the higher scales for shorter putts and I believe you will find yourself making many more putts.

I do something similar, except I use the 30ft increment. I hardly ever use the 15 even for 3ft putts. This sometimes bites me in the ass though, sometimes forget to change to 30 and hit it too soft, or on the other side of the coin change it thinking I'm changing to 30, when in actual fact changing to 60. (not fun)

Would be interesting to see if there are more players out there that use a similar putting style? In an ideal world (for me anyway) they would bring out a Rossa or similar starting at 30ft and no 15ft.

Thanks much. That probably explains it. I didn't realize that near or on the fringe made a difference in the scale. I appreciate the help.

Thanks for the tip. I will start practicing using a larger scale on short putts. Makes sense.

I do similar, trying not to raise the meter above 40 %. For the tap-ins up to 4 ft I tend to use the 15 ft scale - 20%, 30%, boom.
