WGT St Andrews Championship

  Looks like the second of the Summer Course Championships is starting today. 3  rounds of 18 hole single play with a cut line after the first round at 50% of the players. I think we asked for this kind of Tournament so WGT gave it to us. Be sure to look at the dates so nobody misses out on playing in the first round.

  I hope every one is playing from SAME tees, because St Andrews can give unfair advantage to players playing from master tees, last time i played a ready go at st andrews from master tees i managed a 51.LOL.

  ive already withdrawn after just the 2nd hole. My approach shot of 80 yards on the 1st hole has a 14mph headwind, i used the 100 yard wedge, and used about 90 yards power. Yup, i land at around 70 yards. Still, i have a chance to bird, but no, it lips out. 2nd hole approach, i have 40 to the hole after a sweet drive and bounce. 19mph tailwind. So i use a 38 yard flop with little spin. Yup, ball lands at top of hill at around 25 yards, and runs away by about 15 yards. No need to try and put this 1, i already know whats happening in this 1. Sour grapes, maybe, but you just know when its not going to go your way sometimes.

  Is this thing "tiered" as advertised on the wgt home page? I just checked leaderboard... and do not see any "tiers"...

  I saw same thing in last "multi round" tournament.  One round clubs would not get proper yardages and wind would not effect shot and would struggle, then next round everything is perfect and score a very low score.  This has got me dis-interested in WGT tournaments because rounds are not based on your skill at playing the game, but instead a lottery if you get a WGT controlled deviation filled round, just like the one you mentioned.  "score limitation" has been mentioned many a time, and makes me disolutioned with playing these "community" tournaments, but you never know, i might get lucky at last....Well done for giving us a single play, multi round tournament.   Nope, you're right..weird shite happening..ball stolen by burn on 1st...double bogey on 2nd (weird green speeds, length of clubs all over the place...) contuinuing for a while just see how weird it gets

  I can't find anything about tiers either and I'm glad for that.. It's like a Major. Everyone plays from the same tees.

  Sorry, it seems we're all playing from MASTER tee's at present, i presumed all the different tiers would be playing from their own tees, seems like its same short tees for all (expect to see under 52's .LOL)

  Looks like i'm getting a "lucky" hot round, even when 19 mph wind doesn't effect shot and i'm left with 27 feet awkward putts, they're getting sunk, even when i miss ding on BREAK side, (even a 30 footer from bottom of #11)

  -14 up to #14, then in comes the "score limitation" wind not effecting shots on #15 & #16, then on #17 my 2 footpar putt which was dinged fly's left as if i had sliced, so a bogey which was f' all to do with my gameplay but out of my control to "limit" what should have been a very low score.

  remind me why I am interested?

  There is a member like you at my real club who bores the pants off everyone by relating every shot and hard luck story . . .and we dont give a rats either there.
